After years of making waves in East Africa’s music scene under the moniker Navy Kenzo, the celebrated Tanzanian duo has announced they are moving forward with a fresh identity. The duo, made up of partners Aika and Nahreel, revealed through an official statement that they will now perform under their individual names: Aika and Nahreel.
In their heartfelt announcement, the artists expressed gratitude to their loyal fans who have supported them from the very beginning of their musical journey.
“From the very beginning of our musical journey, you’ve been with us, giving us strength, love, and unwavering support,” the statement read.

The pair clarified that while the name is changing, the essence of their music remains the same. However, they emphasized that this rebrand allows them to express themselves in a way that feels more authentic and personal.
“We’re not changing the essence of our music, but rather bringing it closer, more real, and more true to who we are as artists and individuals.”
Over the years, Navy Kenzo earned a reputation for delivering infectious Afropop and Bongo Flava hits, blending Tanzanian rhythms with international sounds. Tracks like 'Kamatia' and 'Game' propelled them to continental fame, solidifying their status as one of Tanzania’s most dynamic music groups
This rebrand marks not just a name change but a new artistic chapler for the duo, as they continue to evolve both as musicians and as individuals.
In closing their statement, Aika and Nahreel thanked fans once more for their enduring love and support:
“Your love is what brought us this far. And that same love is what carries us into this new chapter.”

The duo broke into the mainstream in 2016 with 'Kamatia' which became a club anthem across East Africa.
Their success was fueled by Nahreel’s reputation as a talented producer and Aika’s distinct vocals, setting them apart in the male-dominated Tanzanian music industry.
With a series of chart-topping singles and collaborations with other top African artists, Navy Kenzo solidified their place as one of Tanzania’s most influential music acts.
Their music, known for its vibrant energy and global sound, helped them gain recognition far beyond East Africa, earning them a loyal fanbase across the continent.
