The transfer window will close on August 12, 2025.
KUCCPS said the process helps students align their career choices after placement.
Students can change or retain their courses during the transfer process via the KUCCPS student portal.
Only one transfer is allowed per applicant for the duration of the programme.
The applicant must also meet the cut-off points for the programmes of their choice in the desired institution.
The programme applied for must also have been available in the year the applicant was initially placed.
A processing fee of Sh1,000 is charged per application.
Payment should be made only when prompted; save the confirmation transaction code as proof of payment.
Step-by-step guide to apply
The student logs into the KUCCPS student portal (students.kuccps.net) and initiates the transfer application, selecting the preferred institution and programme.
The receiving institution reviews and endorses the application online through their portal, accepting the student.
The releasing institution receives a notification and releases the student online through their portal.
Once both institutions endorse the application, it reverts to KUCCPS for final approval.
After approval, a transfer letter is generated. r
The student downloads the approved transfer letter from their portal and presents it to the receiving institution to receive the admission letter and joining instructions.
Upon successful transfer, KUCCPS notifies the University Funding Board (UFB) and the Higher Education Loans Board (Helb) to update their records accordingly.
Why students seek transfers
Students may request transfers for various reasons, including medical needs that require access to specialised treatment or healthcare facilities.
Those living with disabilities might prefer institutions that offer better accessibility and support services tailored to their needs.
Financial challenges can also make it difficult for some students to continue studying at their initially assigned institution.
Additionally, some students may wish to change programmes if their current course does not match their academic goals or future career plans.
