Nigerian superstar Tems has made history as the first African artist to perform during the halftime show of the FIFA Club World Cup Final, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The Grammy-winning singer delivered a breathtaking performance, captivating an audience of over 82,000 fans in the stadium and millions more watching globally.
Tems’ performance showcased her signature soulful voice blended with vibrant Afrobeats, creating a dynamic spectacle.
This groundbreaking show took place during the final match between Chelsea and PSG, marking the first-ever halftime show in FIFA Club World Cup history.

Music for Unity and Impact
Ahead of the show, Tems articulated the profound meaning behind her performance. "We’re going to bring the world together for a beautiful moment to celebrate football, feel the unity that music brings, and improve the lives of millions of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund," she stated.
Tems is no stranger to leveraging her music for social change. She previously performed at the 2022 Global Citizen Festival in Accra, Ghana, where she also advocated for global unity and youth empowerment.
Her continued involvement in these significant global efforts has further cemented her status as a worldwide icon who is deeply passionate about making a positive difference through her art.
Colombian music star J Balvin also participated in the historic event, expressing immense pride in being part of such a unique celebration.
“From Medellín to MetLife – I’m honoured to headline the first-ever halftime show of the FIFA Club World Cup final. It’s a historic moment for me, for Latin culture, and for every kid who dreams big,” he remarked.
The 2025 edition of the FIFA Club World Cup featured 32 teams from across the globe competing in 11 cities across the United States, running from 14th June to 13th July.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino lauded the halftime performance as a “powerful symbol of unity and purpose,” adding, “With every ticket sold, we’re investing in the future of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. Football and music together can truly change the world.”
