Kenyan comedian and activist Eric Omondi has once again used his platform to reflect on the ongoing struggles facing young Kenyans, delivering a heartfelt and faith-filled message on Instagram. This comes after the requiem mass of Boniface Kariuki, one of the lives lost in the recent wave of protests.
In an emotional post, Omondi recounted lingering at the church long after others had departed, taking a quiet moment for prayer. “I stayed behind to speak with God. I brought my supplications before HIM,” he wrote. “I mentioned Rex, I remembered Eric Shiani, Kennedy Onyango, Albert Ojwang, Boniface Kariuki and the hundreds that we have lost.”
Omondi’s post comes as Kenya continues to grapple with nationwide protests sparked by economic hardships and controversial government decisions, which have tragically resulted in losses of life and injuries. Omondi, who has positioned himself as both a voice for the people and a unifying figure during these demonstrations, called for hope and resilience.
“I talked to God about tomorrow, that it may be better and brighter than today. I pleaded that He may come with us, that He may go ahead of us,” he continued in his post. Omondi declared his unwavering belief that victory was inevitable, writing, “The battle belongs to Him. ONLY VICTORY WILL BE OURS.”
Looking ahead, Omondi delivered a message of hope and prophecy: “There will be a new Kenya. Every blood shed, every life lost WILL NOT BE IN VAIN. Pain may endure for a night but joy will come in the morning.”
Directing his words to Kenya’s youth, particularly "Gen Zs," he encouraged them to remain steadfast in their resolve. “To the Gen Zs, KEEP YOUR HEAD HIGH, keep fighting. God is on our side, and if HE IS FOR US then WHO CAN BE AGAINST US?”
Eric Omondi’s recent activism marks a new chapter in his career, as he increasingly uses his influence beyond comedy to advocate for justice, accountability, and the dreams of Kenya’s younger generation.
