Who is this principal secretary from Mt Kenya who was recently forced to cancel a secret meeting at his Nairobi residence after details leaked? The PS, who is said to be eyeing a gubernatorial seat in the home county, had invited close allies and bloggers for a private strategy session. However, unknown to him, a mole within the group leaked the plans. Soon after, information about the meeting was widely shared in local WhatsApp groups by bloggers allied to the incumbent governor, exposing the PS’s political manoeuvres. Frustrated by the betrayal, the PS was overheard lamenting he would rather work with a few loyal individuals than “a hundred pretenders”.

A leading research institute that recently conducted interviews for the CEO position is now in the news for all the wrong reasons. It has emerged some board members allegedly leaked questions and answers to one of the candidates. The candidate in question, we are told, kept bragging of success days before the interview, claiming a principal secretary in the ministry had supposedly already secured the slot. It is reportedly also emerging that most of the qualified candidates were deliberately pushed back in the ranking as calls now prevail for the CS to intervene and cancel the whole process in a bid to restore the image of the institution.

Talk about desperation for recognition, and this former MP is a perfect example. He has become a regular visitor at the office of a powerful figure, allegedly desperately lobbying to be included in the 'flying' team. As if sending personal contributions to the events the big man attends, he has reportedly gone an extra mile, now showing up at some of the meetings uninvited. But, what he doesn’t seem to realise is that he’s unwelcome in the camp due to his checkered political history. It is alleged he is a serial party-hopper and a master of doublespeak; his reputation for flip-flopping has made him a hard sell.

A first-term MP is increasingly getting disillusioned with political life. He regrets quitting his well-paying job to join politics. The man, known for not saying much in Parliament has reportedly been overheard lamenting how the constituents have milked him dry. To make matters worse, he is burdened with several loans he is still repaying. Sources close to home say he is considering avoiding rural visits. He has even told his inner circle that he does not care whether he will be reelected or not because he would not be the only one to serve one term.
