Rapper Darassa Mourns The Passing Of His Mother

Tanzanian hip hop star Darassa is in mourning following the passing of his mother, a loss that has touched the hearts of fans and fellow artists across the region.

Mourners were informed that the journey to Itigi for the final farewell would begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21. Friends, relatives, fans, and members of the public who wished to pay their respects were invited to join the journey.

Darassa, known for his introspective lyrics and hit tracks such as Muziki, Too Much, and Hasara Roho, has long maintained a low profile when it comes to his personal life. However, his music often reflects deep emotion and real-life experience, making this loss feel deeply personal to his fans.

The late mother of the rapper was described by those close to the family as a humble, prayerful woman who supported Darassa’s music career from its earliest days. Her passing has prompted an outpouring of sympathy across social media, with fans and fellow artists sharing messages of condolence and strength.

In a statement, the rapper's record label informed fans that;

Kwa ndugu, jamaa rafiki, au jirani ambae angependa kushiriki na sisi safari ya kwenda Itigi kumpumzisha Mama yetu mpendwa kwenye nyumba yake ya milele. Safari i ya kuelekea Itigi ita anza leo saa 11:00 asubuhi."
