A report titled "Digital Fraud Trends in Africa; H1 2025" by TransUnion highlights the most reported fraud schemes across various countries.

In Kenya, "Smishing" (SMS scams) is the most prevalent, accounting for 39% of reported fraud.

Zambia also sees Smishing as its top scam at 35%.

Brazil and Namibia both report "Vishing" (phone call scams) as their leading fraud scheme, at 33% and 30% respectively.

South Africa's most reported fraud is "Phishing" (email/website scams) at 33%.

India differs with "Identity theft" being the primary concern at 32%. Globally, Phishing remains a significant threat at 31%.

Rwanda's most reported scam is "Money mule scam" at 30%, where criminals trick individuals into laundering stolen money.
