Rumours of tension have recently surfaced between popular Kenyan actor Daddie Marto (Martin Githinji) and his wife, Ugandan creative Christine Kokueendera Lwanga (Koku Lwanga), prompting speculation about the state of their relationship.
While their current state points to possible separation and legal confrontation, their relationship was once heralded as an example of intentional love, radical transparency, and mutual respect.
Their story, as chronicled online, reveals a partnership built on transparency, practicality, and an unwavering commitment to each other and their growing family.
2018: A Whirlwind Romance
Their love story began in early 2018. Christine, a Ugandan creative, met Marto through a mutual friend at Alliance Française.
Initially uninterested, Christine soon found herself charmed by Marto’s wit and warmth. He was taken by her “big beautiful eyes.”
Crucially, within days of dating, Marto candidly admitted he had previously been married. This radical honesty, rather than scaring Christine away, became a foundation for deeper trust.
By August 2018, just a few months into dating, the couple held a traditional wedding ceremony in Lubowa, Uganda.

2018–2021: Growing Together and Starting a Family
Six months into their relationship, Christine discovered she was pregnant. This development initially scared her as they were still getting to know each other.
However, Marto’s calm and supportive response reassured her.
Then, in a gesture that reaffirmed their bond, Marto proposed just after Valentine's Day 2021. The proposal came after they were already expecting their child, but Marto clarified it was a heartfelt gesture of love and commitment, not a reaction to the pregnancy.
On 25th August 2021, they welcomed their second child together, Franklin Rey. (It's important to note Marto has another son, Marcus Tau, born in 2018, from a previous relationship).
Marto quickly earned a reputation as a loving and present father.
2023: Birth in Transit and Unconventional Love Lessons
In May 2023, the couple welcomed their third child under extraordinary circumstances. While en route to the hospital, Nairobi traffic stalled their journey, and Christine gave birth in the car.
Their son, Richard Koa, was born at 8:25 a.m. on 13th May 2023, weighing 3.110 kg.
In July 2023, Marto gave an interview where he explained that he had muted attractive women on Instagram to avoid unnecessary temptation—something Christine knew about and supported.
By November 2023, Christine publicly addressed why they hadn’t yet had a white wedding, explaining they’d chosen to prioritise their family and financial growth over an expensive event.
She also spoke highly of Marto’s consistency, describing him as a rock during tough times.

2024: Signs of Strain and Public Revelations
However, as mid-2024 unfolded, cracks began to appear. The couple posted less content together and seemed to be focusing on more independent projects.
Still, many believed they were simply taking a private pause, a practice they’d used in the past to recalibrate.
But the situation escalated dramatically in June 2025, when Christine, known online as Koku Lwanga, made a series of serious allegations against Marto.
In a widely shared social media post, she accused him of betrayal, emotional and physical abuse, and infidelity.
“That wasn’t rage, that was pain,” she wrote. “Pain from the realisation that I have been sleeping with the enemy.”
Among her claims, Koku alleged that Marto rented a separate two-bedroom apartment in the same compound to secretly house another woman.
She recounted confronting the two, an encounter that allegedly ended in physical assault. Koku shared images of bruises on her back, claiming Marto had kicked and hit her while she lay on the floor.
She also detailed alleged emotional neglect and body-shaming, especially after childbirth, saying Marto failed to affirm her during postpartum and instead made disparaging comments.
Despite her hurt, Koku showed concern for the alleged mistress, warning her about Marto’s alleged violent tendencies and encouraging her to take accountability for her part.

Marto Responds
In a statement released hours later on Sunday, 16th June 2025, Marto addressed the allegations.
He stated unequivocally that he does not condone violence of any kind—emotional, physical, or psychological—and denied the accusations.
Calling the claims a “significantly distorted and one-sided picture of events,” Marto said he would not respond to the specifics publicly but would cooperate fully with legal processes.
“To my children, please know that I will always be here, present, and honest with you,” he concluded.
