MultiChoice Kenya hosted an exclusive and glamorous premiere last night for the much-anticipated second season of the historical drama Shaka iLembe, giving fans and dignitaries a first look at what promises to be another captivating chapter in the epic saga of the legendary Zulu king.

The red-carpet event was held at the sophisticated Matteo’s Events in Karen and brought together a vibrant mix of entertainment industry leaders, the diplomatic corps, and devoted fans ahead of the show’s official debut on Maisha Magic Plus this Sunday, June 15.

Distinguished guests in attendance included His Excellency Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu, the South African High Commissioner to Kenya; Her Excellency Ms. Winpeg Moyo, Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Kenya and Chair of the Southern African Development Community; and Timothy Owase, CEO of the Kenya Film Commission.

MultiChoice executives were also present, among them Kenya Managing Director Nzola Miranda and Regional Director Glauco Ferreira.

The event was further elevated by appearances from The Mommy Club NBO stars Lynne Njihia and Ofentse Tsipa, the latter being the sister of Lemogang Tsipa, who stars in the titular role as Shaka.

Season 2 of Shaka iLembe dives deeper into the rise of Shaka Zulu as he begins to unite the Nguni kingdoms.

Viewers will witness his strategic alliances with key clans such as the Elangeni, Ndwandwe, Mabhudu, Mthethwa, Hlubi, and Qwabe, laying the foundation of what would become a formidable Zulu nation.

New characters and historical figures make their debut this season, including King Phungashe of the Buthelezi, Queen Lojiba, and King Somhlolo of the Swati. The series also explores the growing encroachment of the British and Boers from the south, hinting at a new era of political upheaval and resistance.
