Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, commonly known as Tory Lanez, was reportedly left in critical condition after being stabbed 14 times and rushed to California Hospital.

The Canadian singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer is battling for his life after the unfortunate incident. 

The Canadian hip-hop artist was attacked by another person receiving mental health treatment on Tuesday morning in a housing unit at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.

Prison staff began first aid before Lanez was taken to a local medical facility for further treatment, he said.

The star's Instagram post said he was stabbed in the back, torso, head, and face. He was temporarily placed on a breathing apparatus but is now able to breathe on his own, the Instagram post adds.

 “Tory was stabbed 14 times, including 7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his face. Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus. "He is now breathing on his own,” the post said.

"Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through," the post added.

He also wants to thank everyone who wished him well and for their continued prayers and support.

Tory Lanez was sentenced to ten years in prison on August 8, 2023, after being convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

He was found guilty of first-degree assault with a firearm, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.

As of 2025, he is incarcerated at the California Correctional Institution.

Tory Lanez surprise-dropped his fifth studio album, Daystar, on September 25, 2020, his first full-length since parting ways with Interscope at the start of the year.
