A gas tanker has overturned along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway in Machakos County.
The tanker ferrying liquid gas overturned near the Signature Mall in Sabaki, Athi River subcounty, on Wednesday.
The motor vehicle's driver lost control before it landed in a ditch.
It was moving from Mombasa general direction towards Nairobi when the accident occurred.
A mini-truck also overturned, reportedly in a self-involved Road accident, less than 100 metres where the gas tanker overturned.
Eyewitnesses said the truck was the first one to overturn, possibly leading to the second accident.
The accident led to a traffic jam along the highway before traffic officers from Athi River police station intervened.
Efforts to pull both the truck and gas tanker from the ditch are currently undergoing, with police officers and the fire brigade from Machakos County Government involved.
