The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the joint operation was led by the DCI Crime Scene Investigations(CSI) team, supported by GSU Kipsing.

They successfully recovered two AK-47 rifles with empty magazines at Lemorijo village, Lengurma Location, Isiolo North Sub-County.

According to police, the operation was in response to the brutal incident that occurred on April 7, 2025.

During the incident, three National Police Reservists (NPR) from Igembe North, Meru County, were fatally shot by armed raiders.

According to detectives, the recovered guns are believed to have been used during the attack.

Police said the breakthrough was made possible through collaboration between DCI’s elite teams, members of the public, the local administration and DCI Igembe North, who has taken over investigations as the case remains under probe.

“We commend all officers involved for their dedication and continued efforts to uphold law and order. Further updates will follow as investigations are still on course,” DCI said in a statement on Saturday.
