Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced that a scheduled power outage will affect various parts of eight counties on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025.

The announcement was made on Monday evening as part of routine maintenance on the national electricity infrastructure.

According to the notice, the following areas will be affected:

Nandi County

Area Affected: Cheptuiyet

Time: 9:25 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Residents in and around Cheptuiyet are expected to experience an interruption in power supply.

Homa Bay County

Areas Affected: Adiedo, Kendu Bay

Date: Tuesday, 22nd April 2025

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Affected locations include Kendu Bay market, Ayub Akoko Primary, Kanyandhiang market, Nyangacho Secondary, Dago, Oriang, Adiedo, Pala, Pala Prison, Homahills, Gendia Hospital, Gendia High School and surrounding areas.

Migori County

Areas Affected: Kehancha, Masaba

Date: Tuesday, 22nd April 2025

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Power disruption will occur in Migori Airstrip, KEFRI, Nyanchabo, Masaba, Nyamamagagana, Kurutyange, Ikerege, Tarawiti, Koego, Nyametaburo, Nyamaranya, Karosi, Kehancha Town, St. Kizito School, Maeta, Kegonga, Igena, Nyabikongori, Kebarisia, Mosweto, Nyamutiro, Kebaroti, Makararangwe, Ntimaru and nearby areas.

Nyeri County

Areas Affected: Biriri, Mapema

Date: Tuesday, 22nd April 2025

Time: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Impacted locations include Tagwa Police Station, Biriri market, Biriri Kilelechwa, Mapema Primary School, Mapema market and nearby areas.

Embu County

Areas Affected: Gatondo, Maramuri

Date: Thursday, 24th April 2025

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Areas include Gatondo, Havard, Embu High School, Kamutungi, Muiganania, parts of Muthatari and nearby locations.

Laikipia County

Areas Affected: Ibis, Timau, Doldol

Date: Tuesday, 22nd April 2025

Time: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Affected farms and areas include Colour Crops, Turacco, Kalalu, Greenland, GAW, Sirimon, Umande, Kwa Mumero, Ngenia, Mia Moja, Kithithina, Timau market, Siraji, Oldonyo, Batian, Ngarendare, Embori Flowers, Uhuru Flowers, Kisima Flowers, PJ Dave Ltd, AAA Growers, Kisima Secondary, Kongoni Farm, Mbuju Primary, Thamba Ngombe, Tambuzi, Kiambogo Primary, Ngusishi, Nelion, Timaflour Farms, Ethi, Marania, Wangu Farm and surrounding areas.

Kiambu County

Area Affected: Kamiti

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Mugumo, Fig Tree, St. Anthony School, Kiu River, Kamiti Ridge, Marion School, Kamiti Corner, Wood Creek School and surrounding areas.

Mombasa County

Areas Affected: Likoni and Lunga Lunga Road

Date: Tuesday, 22nd April 2025

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Power will be interrupted in Pentagon, Mrima, Tenant Purchase, Shika Adabu, Kibaki Estate, Bububu, Shonda Maweni, Ujamaa, Checkpoint, Inspiration, Slaughterhouse, Jara, Mwananguvuze, Kona Mpya, Kona Mbaya and nearby estates.

KPLC has urged customers in the affected areas to be patient and take necessary precautions during this period, assuring them that supply will be restored promptly after the maintenance is complete.

Customers are advised to switch off unused electrical appliances and secure their systems ahead of the power restoration.
