The ongoing marital woes between Kikuyu gospel musician Karangu Muraya and his estranged wife, Triza Njeri, have continued to unfold publicly, with Triza now threatening to take full custody of their three children.

The emotional mother took to social media, expressing her frustration and claiming that her children are being made to refer to Karangu’s second wife, Carol Kim, as "mum"—something she insists she will never tolerate.

The couple, once celebrated for their happy family life, has been embroiled in a highly publicised dispute that has spilled into the public eye over the past few months.

Triza's outburst came shortly after Karangu shared heartwarming photos of himself with their children, dressed in coordinated outfits, captioned simply, “Happy Sunday ?❤️❤️?.”

While many praised him for his active parenting, Triza accused him of attempting to paint a perfect picture while undermining her role as their mother.

In her posts, Triza alleged that Karangu abandoned her with the children at their rural home, only to move in with Carol shortly after.

“Aliniacha na wao, na sikuongeanga, only two months and he had already taken them to her,” she claimed.

She stated her intentions clearly: “It’s time to take my kids now… I don’t want drama, but I feel like I’m being pushed.”

This isn’t the first time the family drama has played out in public. Back in February, Triza’s parents and other relatives made a heartfelt attempt to resolve the dispute, visiting her home and pleading with her to return to her matrimonial home.

Her godfather, Joseph Wanyoike, stated that the family had hoped to handle the matter privately and without media interference.

Despite their efforts, Triza remained firm in her decision, citing emotional pain and abandonment.

Support for Triza has grown online, with many expressing empathy and understanding towards her situation.

Some questioned the need to involve family members in such a public manner, while others applauded Triza for standing her ground.

In mid-March 2025, social media personality Wanja Nyarari, emerged as a strong advocate for Triza, even raising over Sh1 million to support her during this difficult period.

Nyarari, speaking passionately at Bishop Ben Kiengei’s church, vowed to stand by Triza and empower women going through similar struggles.

“I cannot bear to see women cry, especially from pain caused by neglect and disrespect,” she said, criticising men who mistreat their wives and urging society to stop judging women without understanding their stories.

Nyarari has since offered both emotional and practical support to Triza, even teaching her dining etiquette and helping her secure brand deals that have boosted her financially.

Despite public pressure to reconcile, Nyarari has discouraged Triza from returning to her marriage. Allegations have also emerged that the couple’s home may be on the verge of auction due to unpaid debts.

As the saga continues, Karangu has remained mostly silent, only suggesting that a family meeting might help.
