President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga did not sign the agreement but they will.
They have already done public participation. It is a concluded deal. That is how political parties operate.
President Ruto is extremely desperate to have Raila on board.
He wants to maintain numbers in the two houses of Parliament.
His government is unpopular. It is hanging by a thread. That is why he is doing everything to have Raila on his side.
If ODM signed a coalition agreement with UDA or Kenya Kwanza, then that will mean the death of Azimio.
That is why we have moved to form the opposition to keep a check on this government.
With Raila and Ruto signing a deal, it means that oversight in Parliament will be ineffective.
They will control Parliament and anything they want to push will pass in the two houses.
It will not be good for democracy, especially now that this government is inept and therefore needs proper oversight. Ruto wants numbers in Parliament and sees that working with Raila will guarantee him that.
It means that the opposition will only make noise outside Parliament. It won’t be able to defeat bad bills or bad policies that this regime will be pushing.
But as the opposition, the deal will not affect us.
We are looking for new friends under the umbrella of the united opposition to check this regime.
This regime is very unpopular.
Kenyans do not want an alliance between Raila and Ruto that will keep this administration in power even for an extra day.
That is why we have decided to remain united because we know we are with the people.
Gen Z are angry, Kenyans’ pay slips have been raided.
The economy is not working.
Nothing is working in this country.
So, Kenyans are not supporting any alliance that will keep this administration in power even for a day, leave alone re-electing it.
Kenyans have made up their minds.
