The Muthaiga Golf Club played host to the Magical Kenya Open (MKO) 2025 and let me tell you, Maina, it was a beehive of activities at the venue.

The DP World Tour was making a stop in Kenya for 4 consecutive days; bringing together over 150 players from over 30 countries across the globe that were competing for a stake in the $2.5 million (322 million) –Prize money.

South Africa’s Jacques Kruyswijk claimed this year’s title at MKO on Sunday after holding off the challenge of in-form playing partner John Perry.

“I am so happy to get my first DP World Tour win in Kenya. I am proud to keep this trophy in Africa,” Jacques Kruyswijk said after the win.

Kruyswijk did not put a foot wrong in the final round as he carded four birdies in a sensational 67 to reach 18 under par, complete a bogey-free weekend, and become the second South African winner of this event since it became part of the DP World Tour’s Global Schedule.

The Tournament Village 

Off the golf course, Johnnie Walker had curated a world-class line-up of entertainment for the MKO 2025, delivering an unforgettable experience.

As the official alcohol beverage partner, Johnnie Walker brought the tournament village to life with a vibrant showcase of Kenyan talent, blending the excitement of golf with captivating music and culture.

From February 20th to 23rd, Johnnie Walker transformed Muthaiga Golf Club into a dynamic hub of entertainment.

The Classic Presence

On Friday, February 21, Classic 105’s Mike Mondo was live on location, breaking down the action on the golf course to his listeners on the radio.

Mondo spent the better part of his Friday afternoon, patrolling the golf course, interacting with fans, players, and Johnnie Walker’s officials who were on location.

He also made a stop at the Flovour Lounge by Johnnie Walker and it was all vibes as everyone present in the tent was super excited to meet the seasoned radio host in person.

At night, entertainment at the village section was courtesy of DJ Jojo, DJ Bee, and DJ Namosky with BV Accurate as the MC and hype man of the night.

The Saturday Madness

On Saturday, the tournament village featured a stellar line-up of Kenyan talent, including the Afro-fusion vibes of Bensoul, the soulful sounds of Chris Kaiga, the dynamic energy of Ndegz, and the captivating rhythms of Korbz.

During his set, Ndegz brought out legendary rapper Abass Kubaff for the performance of their Creep collaboration.

On the other hand, Bensoul performed most of his hit songs among them Nairobi, Viva Lavida, and Extra Pressure among others.

For Chris Kaiga his set was short and sweet as he combined all his hit songs in the set.

DJ Grauchi, DJ Kaneda, and DJ Deewiz blended in well with the superstars of the night as they kept revellers on their feet the whole time. Media personality Amina Abdi Rabar was the MC of the night and she did a fantastic job.

Golfers at this year’s Magical Kenya Open had more than glory to play for as the entertainment bit was well taken care of.

The 2025 Magical Kenya Open is a platform that celebrates Kenyan talent and culture.

This year Kenya had several rising stars, including eight professional golfers and a contingent of amateur players who earned their place through outstanding performances.

Since joining the European Tour in 2019, the tournament has cemented Kenya’s status as a premier golfing destination.

Fans and players alike now look ahead to more world-class tournaments on Kenyan soil.
