A sombre mood engulfed the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi on Friday following the death of former IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

Family, friends and relatives were seen making their way, one after the other, to the facility to view the body.

After a brief meeting, they were seen conversing in low tones.

The body of Chebukati, who died Thursday night, is set to be moved to the Lee Funeral Home for preservation.

While addressing the press, family spokesperson EricK Nyongesa expressed deep sorrow following the loss.

He also requested Kenyans to give room to the family to mourn and avoid speculating about the cause of his death.

Family and friends gathered at the Lee Funeral Home, as preparations for his burial begin.
Nyongesa said the family will gather later on in the day to begin burial preparations.
