The area on fire

Part of the JKIA airport grassland towards 75 Airport North Road is on fire.

Fire engines and the police are already at the scene; however, flights have not been affected.

The Star efforts to confirm the fire incident were responded to by a team from JKIA, who confirmed it but said it was not a huge fire.

"It's a small fire on dry grass, but I can't give more information now because I am not on the ground; I am in the office," said the respondent from JKIA.

The respondent further said the fire was along the fence within JKIA towards the Embakasi Area towards 75 Airport North Road.

He also said the fire might have been caused by a piece of cigarette that was thrown on the dry grass.
