From late-but-thoughtful M-Pesa surprises to bundles of cash that could make your eyes pop, here’s how some of Kenya’s most talked-about couples celebrated the day of love.

First up, social media guru Director Trevor decided to make his girlfriend, Yvonne Kiki, feel like a queen—even if his grand gesture was a day late.

Trevor took to social media to share a screenshot of an M-Pesa transaction showing he had sent KSh 100,000 to Kiki as a Valentine’s gift.

Alongside the screenshot, he wrote, “Better late than never, receive my late Valentine's gift, my love. Yesterday was all work, but today is all about us.”

Kiki, who recently hinted that she and Trevor are headed for marriage, was just as surprised as the rest of us. She took to her Instagram stories to share her reaction, saying, “I didn't even ask for it, he just surprised me. I was just scrolling on social media and I saw myself trending a few minutes ago. I thought it was an old post only to see it’s current. Checked my Mpesa balance and walaaaah, it’s real. I can't thank my babe enough, this is a thoughtful gift. My God bless this man for me. Thank you so much daddy, hii ndio inaitwa kutumiwa KSh 100k urgently bila hata kuitisha.”

But Trevor’s gesture was just the appetizer. Veteran socialite Risper Faith took things to a whole new level. During a TikTok live session, Risper showed off a paper bag stuffed with US dollars, which she claimed amounted to a whopping KSh 6.3 million.

“There goes my Valentine's gift. One, two, three, four, five. 10,000 times five. That is 50,000 times 132. That is 6.3 million Kenya shillings,” she said, laughing at women who received flowers and chocolates. “And you are there struggling with your flowers and 'being eaten' from morning to evening. Then they give you the KSh 150 chocolate and on top of that, he gets you pregnant. Look for men with money. I was given the money and told to better my house. To upgrade my house.”

While the exact amount remains unconfirmed, Risper’s TikTok live definitely left many wondering if they should start renegotiating their Valentine’s gifts.

Not to be outdone, musician Kevin Bahati pulled out all the stops for his wife, Diana Marua. The couple, known for their over-the-top displays of affection, had a Valentine’s Day that could easily be mistaken for a scene from a romantic movie.

Bahati surprised Diana with wads of cash placed on a table during their date night, claiming it was KSh 5 million. He also revealed he had transferred KSh 3 million to her account, bringing the total to KSh 8 million.

Diana, dressed in a stunning red outfit, was visibly shocked. “Are you for real, babe?” she asked. Bahati responded, “This is KSh 5 million Kenyan shillings. I have wired you KSh 3 million. In total, it’s KSh 8 million shillings.”

He then instructed her to treat herself to a spa day and buy new outfits. “Go do your nails, go do your manicure, pedicure, get the right outfits.”
