Bruce Melodie: I didn’t know who Hassan Joho was when he jumped on Katerin Challenge

Rwandese singer Bruce Melodie has shared little-known details about his hit song Katerina officially introduced him to Kenyans in 2019.

In an interview with Mpasho’s Dennis Milimo, Bruce mentioned that he recorded the song in 2017 but it blew up in Kenya in 2019.

“I released Katerina in 2017 but they started playing it here in 2019.  After that, I released other songs that they also loved. So from then, I was introduced to the Kenyan Market,” Melodie said.

According to the singer, he had no idea who Hassan Joho was when he jumped on the Katerina challenge.

The former Mombasa Governor was among those who went viral after participating in the Katerina Challenge.

He had to do a quick research on Joho after fans and a section of his team told him that a popular Kenyan Governor was dancing to his song.

Melodie further stated that Joho called him and commended him for putting out good music.

“He actually called me and congratulated me saying I was doing good music. I didn't know who he was, I was like maybe he was just a fan. But he mentioned something like; I’m the Gooney of Mombasa. Shout out to Joho, he did a good thing coz everyone was sending me videos saying the Governor is dancing to your song,” Melodie shared.
