
Two men who allegedly conspired to defraud a company of land valued at Sh1.6 billion were on Thursday charged.
The accused Atek Oteck Richard and Bernard Otieno Mallo pleaded not guilty to allegations of defrauding Landmark Freight Services Limited of land measuring 0.6724 hectares, valued at 1.6 billion shillings, by falsely claiming to be the rightful owners of the property.
They were also charged with forging a title deed and presenting it as a legitimate document issued by the Ministry of Lands.
Additionally, they faced charges of uttering a falsified allotment letter.
The prosecution alleges that the offences were committed on unknown dates and places in the country.
Appearing before Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi at Milimani Law Court, they denied all charges and pleaded for lenient bond terms.
They were granted cash bail of Sh200,000 each.
The case will be mentioned February 20, 2025.
