Ruto was accompanied by leaders including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Cooperatives CS Wycliffe Oparanya, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and, Governors Ferdinand Barasa (Kakamega) and Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi).

During the service, Khalwale decried high crime rates in parts of the county.
Hesaid residents of Butere, Mumias West and Khwisero constituencies were having a hard time going about their business due to criminals who were attacking and even killing some.
He said in the three constituencies, people's homes are broken into and property stolen, and in extreme cases, owners are killed.
"Last month we buried two brothers in Marama, this month we have buried six people in Butere, two being village elders and a watchman," Khalwale said.
