Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has clarified his presence on social media, warning the public against accounts purporting to represent him, his family or his political activities.
Through his spokesperson, Kanze Dena Mararo, Uhuru’s office said on Tuesday that it operates only two official social media accounts authorised to communicate on behalf of the former President.
The Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya said the official accounts are on Facebook and X, formerly known as Twitter, and both operate under the username @4thPresidentKE.
“The Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, wishes to inform the general public that the office operates only two official social media accounts,” the statement said.
The office listed its official Facebook account as Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, with the username @4thPresidentKE.
It also identified its official X account as Office of the 4th President of Kenya, also using the username @4thPresidentKE.
The clarification comes amid the existence of multiple social media accounts purporting to belong to the former President, some of which have published information about his political activities and other matters concerning him.
Some of the accounts have at times shared unverified information, creating uncertainty over which platforms genuinely communicate Uhuru’s views and activities.
The former President’s office further clarified that Uhuru, former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and their children do not operate any personal social media accounts.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to exercise caution and disregard any social media accounts, pages or profiles purporting to represent or speak on behalf of H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, H.E. Margaret Kenyatta or their children, other than the two official accounts listed above,” the statement said.
The office urged Kenyans to rely only on the two verified platforms when seeking authentic information concerning the former President and his family.
“The public is urged to rely only on these official platforms for authentic information and communication concerning the former President and the former First Family,” it said.
The statement was signed by Dena on behalf of the Office of the 4th President and dated October 27, 2026.
Uhuru, who served as Kenya’s fourth President from 2013 to 2022, has remained an influential figure in national politics since leaving office, with his political position and public statements continuing to attract significant attention.
Uhuru celebrated his 65th birthday on Monday, saying he had forgiven Mt Kenya residents for the electoral “mistake” they made in 2022 when they failed to back the late ODM leader Raila Odinga for the presidency.
