Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has declared Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna the new political kingpin of the Mulembe region. Natembeya says the region previously rallied behind the late Raila Odinga, but the political tide is shifting. He has urged Western region leaders to unite behind Sifuna, arguing that Kenyan politics is increasingly taking a regional dimension.
