The government has announced 6,000 internship opportunities for young professionals under the Affordable Housing Programme.
The advertisement targets graduates in engineering, construction, architecture, land management and other specialised fields.
The Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, through the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, said the 12-month programme seeks to equip young professionals with relevant skills and expose them to real-world work environments.
The initiative also aims to strengthen their capacity to contribute to the implementation of the Affordable Housing Programme and the country's broader socio-economic development agenda.
According to the advertisement, the internships cover 28 professional areas. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or diploma from a recognised university, depending on the position.
"Applicants must have graduated not earlier than 2020, be proficient in computer skills and have not benefited from a similar internship programme."
The department said interns would undertake duties assigned by their supervisors, document the skills acquired at their areas of deployment and participate in mentorship activities.
The placements will be available at Affordable Housing Programme and marketing project sites across the country.
The internship will run for 12 months and will be non-renewable. Successful applicants will receive a stipend at a rate determined by the government and be awarded certificates upon completion.
The opportunities cover various professions, including construction management, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, quantity surveying, structural engineering, land surveying, landscape architecture, urban and regional planning, and property management.
Other vacancies target graduates in social development, gender and development studies, data science and artificial intelligence, communication and branding, environmental practice, and interior design.
Construction management has 500 slots, while architecture has 475. Realtors have 330 positions, while degree-level quantity surveying, diploma-level quantity surveying assistance, structural engineering, and health and safety each have 300 vacancies.
"Interested and qualified applicants are requested to make their applications through the Public Service Commission’s job portal accessible through www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke by 9th November, 2026," stated the notice.
Meanwhile, Kenya Railways Corporation has invited applications from qualified Kenyans to fill various positions within the state-owned corporation.
In its recruitment notice, Kenya Railways said it was seeking individuals to support its vision of becoming a provider of “world-class rail services” and its mission to develop “a safe, reliable, and sustainable integrated rail network.”
Applicants are required to submit a signed application letter, a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional certificates, and a copy of their national identity card or passport.
The corporation said the curriculum vitae should indicate current and previous employers, positions held, education level, current and expected salary, notice period, and at least three professional referees.
“Only shortlisted and successful candidates will be contacted,” the notice added.
Kenya Railways said the positions were open to Kenyan citizens only. Applications must be submitted through the job link on its website, www.krc.co.ke, by November 9, 2026, at 5 pm.
The corporation also cautioned applicants against fraudsters soliciting money using its name. It warned that canvassing or failure to provide the required documents would lead to automatic disqualification.
