The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has joined other independent oversight institutions in a push to strengthen accountability, improve coordination and enhance public service delivery.

EACC Chairperson David Oginde attended a consultative meeting of heads of Commissions and Independent Offices (CCIO) on October 13, 2026, to discuss ways of improving cooperation among the institutions.

The meeting was chaired by Auditor-General Nancy Gathungu, who also chairs the CCIO.

Discussions focused on accountability, transparency, sound governance and the prudent use of public resources, which the institutions identified as key pillars of effective public service.

The meeting also provided a platform for the institutions to share experiences, discuss common challenges and explore opportunities for collaboration in carrying out their constitutional and statutory mandates.

Participants discussed the importance of responsible leadership, effective oversight and institutional independence in promoting good governance and responsive public services.

The CCIO brings together Commissions and Independent Offices to facilitate consultation, cooperation and the exchange of best practices on matters of common interest.

Through the forum, member institutions seek to strengthen their effectiveness, address shared challenges and enhance their collective contribution to constitutionalism, accountability and improved service delivery.

The engagement comes as the institutions seek to reinforce their respective oversight roles and improve their collective contribution to public accountability.

The EACC, which is mandated to safeguard public resources and uphold ethical standards, works alongside other independent oversight bodies to promote transparency and responsibility in public service.

The commission's participation in the consultative forum reflects the importance of cooperation among oversight institutions in ensuring that public service is guided by accountability and the public interest.EACC Chairperson David Oginde and Auditor-General Nancy Gathungu during a consultative meeting of heads of Commissions and Independent Offices (CCIO) on October 13, 2026/HANDOUTDirector of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga (2nd from left), EACC Chairperson David Oginde and Auditor-General Nancy Gathungu during a consultative meeting of heads of Commissions and Independent Offices (CCIO) on October 13, 2026/HANDOUTAuditor-General Nancy Gathungu, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga and another official during a consultative meeting of heads of Commissions and Independent Offices (CCIO) on October 13, 2026/HANDOUTEACC Chairperson David Oginde and Chairperson of the Public Service Commission during a consultative meeting of heads of Commissions and Independent Offices (CCIO) on October 13, 2026/HANDOUT
