Collage of MP Ndindi Nyoro and Senator John MethuKiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has disputed Nyandarua Senator John Methu’s account of a meeting in which they allegedly discussed political plans involving the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
Speaking at a rally in Kajiado on Tuesday, Nyoro appeared to respond to Methu’s recent remarks about an alleged political approach and discussions involving the opposition.
“The other day I saw another big mole on TV; he's busy calling others in opposition projects and a mole,” Nyoro said.
Nyoro urged Methu to tone down his criticism of opposition leaders, maintaining that the opposition remained united ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“We are telling you, while in opposition, reduce your anger, envy and jealousy. We as opposition are united. Let's stop lying,” he said.
His remarks followed Methu’s account of an alleged political approach after the Ol Kalou by-election.
Methu claimed that a person from the government contacted him after the by-election and invited him to a meeting, where he was allegedly encouraged to establish a political party and position himself to take over former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s political base.
According to Methu, he was also offered financial support to establish the party, including Sh10 million to mobilise aspirants.
Methu said he rejected the proposal and sought advice from political allies, including Nyoro, whom he described as a person he trusted and regarded as a brother.
“I called Ndindi Nyoro and met him at a hotel. I told him these guys have offered me this because he's a person I trust and my brother,” Methu said.
He claimed Nyoro advised him against forming a separate political party, arguing that doing so would split opposition votes.
Methu further claimed that Nyoro told him he would join the DCP, led by Gachagua.
According to Methu, he offered to relinquish his position as DCP secretary-general to accommodate Nyoro in a senior position within the party.
“I told him you are actually still senior to me as a second-term member of parliament. If you come to our party, you'll be automatic number two to Rigathi Gachagua,” Methu said.
He said that conversation was their last.
Methu said he was later surprised to hear Nyoro announce that he had his own political party, the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK), which he claimed contradicted their discussion at the hotel.
“So when I heard him say that he has a party (PPK), I could not believe my ears because that's not the discussion we had,” Methu said.
"It's him who told me that another party is a creation of William Ruto. And that is where I leave it to you."
Nyoro disputed Methu’s account of their alleged meeting.
The Kiharu MP said the last time he spoke to Methu was during the Ol Kalou by-election, when he was providing financial support for the campaign.
“Yesterday, I saw someone on TV claiming they talked with Ndindi Nyoro in a hotel. I am here and the last time we spoke was when I was giving him funds for Ol Kalou by-election,” he said, while at the rally.
Nyoro also called for unity within the opposition, saying its leaders should remain focused on their shared political objective.
