Shujaa beat Morans 24-5 in an all-Kenyan final to retain the Safari Sevens title for the fifth consecutive year at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
In a tense first half, Morans dominated possession but failed to convert two clear chances, with Clinton Amukwachi and Brighton Omondi unable to ground the ball in the try box as the teams went into the break locked at 0-0.
Shujaa came alive after the restart, with Rayvone Ambale breaking the deadlock before converting his own try. Victor Odhiambo then finished off a sweeping move to extend the lead to 12-0.
Festus Shiasi crossed the whitewash to make it 19-0 before John Okoth added another try to seal the win. Lucky Onyango scored a late consolation try for Morans. It was the first time in Safari Sevens history that two Kenyan teams had contested the final.
French Renegades claimed bronze after edging Shogun 17-15. Shujaa stormed into the final with a demolition of the French Renegades 36-0  in the semi-finals.
Gabriel Ayimba scored twice, while Shiasi and Glacious Owino also crossed the try line in a dominant display. Morans stunned tournament favourites Shogun 31-10, with captain Amukwachi leading from the front, scoring once and contributing to three other tries.
Matthias Osimbo scored twice alongside Dennis Ndayala, while playmaker Michael Lukusi added two conversions as Morans took a 19-5 half-time lead. Shujaa coach Kevin Wambua praised both teams, saying their performances had made selecting the final 25-man squad for the upcoming season difficult. “The players have put up their hands over the three days of competition.
They have delivered on what we asked them to do, their basic core roles, and brought intensity and physicality when required,” said Wambua. He also praised Shujaa’s response after a slow start on Friday, when they drew 21-21 with SportPesa Forwards Legends.
“It was a wake-up call, and the players responded brilliantly in subsequent matches,” he added, thanking fans for their strong support throughout the tournament.
