IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon / HANDOUTThe Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has announced the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and commencement of Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) in Ol-Kalou Constituency.
In a gazette notice dated September 14, IEBC said the enhanced continuous voter registration exercise will run from Monday, September 21 to Tuesday, October 20.
The commission said Continuous Voter Registration and regular revision of the Register of Voters will resume at the Ol-Kalou IEBC Constituency Office after the enhanced exercise ends.
The services will be available from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, between 8 am and 5 pm.
IEBC said the enhanced exercise will be conducted at county assembly ward level, the constituency office and other designated registration points approved within Ol-Kalou Constituency.
Eligible Kenyan citizens aged 18 and above who hold a valid national identity card or Kenyan passport will be able to register as voters, transfer their voter registration to another electoral area, update or correct their registration details and verify their voter registration status.
“The exercise will be conducted at County Assembly Ward level as well as the Constituency Office and such other designated registration points within the Constituency as may be approved by the Commission,” IEBC chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon said in the notice.
The commission said voters seeking to transfer their registration to another electoral area must present themselves at the IEBC constituency office of their preferred electoral area.
Those seeking to update or correct their registration details will be required to appear at the constituency office where they are currently registered, IEBC said.
IEBC said the enhanced exercise follows the conduct of byelections in Ol-Kalou Constituency.
The commission also appointed registration officers for the constituency in an addendum to an earlier gazette notice.
Anthony Muhia Njiraini was appointed registration officer for Ol-Kalou, while Maurine Chepkemoi Kisiero was appointed assistant registration officer.
The appointments and voter registration notice were issued under powers provided by the Constitution, the Elections Act and the Election (Registration of Voters) Regulations, 2012.
The commission urged eligible citizens in Ol-Kalou to use the registration period to register or update their voter details ahead of future electoral activities.
