Gailey Singh emerged as the star of the day at Muthaiga Golf Club after posting 43 points to win the overall title at the 2026 Kenya Re Annual Corporate Golf Tournament.

Singh was among a field of golfers who gathered at the prestigious Nairobi club on Friday for the tournament, which combined competition with networking among Kenya Re’s clients, partners and insurance industry stakeholders.

Kenya Re Director Joseph Kirika presented Singh with the overall winner’s award.

The men’s category was won by Joseph Kamiri, who also carded 43 points. Sylvestor Onyango finished runner-up with 43 points, while Adam Boru claimed third place with 42 points.

Beyond the trophies and scores, the tournament offered Kenya Re an opportunity to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders.

Kenya Re Group Managing Director Dr Hillary Wachinga said the qualities needed to succeed in golf — strategy, patience, discipline and effective risk management — also underpin success in the insurance business.

The Corporation is entering the second half of 2026 on the back of a strong financial performance. Its profit after tax rose by 42.8 per cent to Sh2.3 billion in the first half of the year, up from Sh1.6 billion in the same period in 2025.

Dr Wachinga said the performance gives Kenya Re a strong foundation to pursue its ambitions in the second half of the year, including strengthening its market position, deepening partnerships and expanding its regional footprint.

Kenya Re currently operates in Uganda, Zambia and Côte d’Ivoire as it seeks to increase its role in Africa’s insurance and reinsurance markets.

For the golfers at Muthaiga, however, the immediate focus was on the scorecard — and it was Singh who finished the day at the top.
