KCB playmaker Samuel Asati in action against Blak Blad at Embu Sevens/HANDOUT

The race for the SportPesa National Sevens Circuit title reaches its climax at the RFUEA Ground with the Christie Sevens.

Defending champions KCB and rivals Kabras Sugar renew their rivalry for the final time this sevens season following five weeks of action.

KCB hold a narrow lead atop the standings with 98 points after winning three tournaments (Prinsloo, Kabeberi, and Embu). Kabras sit second on 92 points, having claimed two titles (Dala and Driftwood).

To successfully retain their crown, KCB only need to finish third overall.

Head coach Andrew Amonde is confident his KCB side will stay focused.

"It has been a competitive season from Nakuru to now. We are on the final lap and hope to get the job done. First things first, we must secure results in Saturday's pool stages," Amonde said.

KCB headline Pool A alongside host Kenya Harlequin, Masinde Muliro University and touring side Club Afrique.

Kabras RFC lead Pool B, where they face NYS Spades, Mean Machine, and Blak Blad.

Head coach Ntabeni Dukisa aims to build on their performance from the Embu Sevens, where they fell 12–10 to KCB in the final.

"The boys are fired up after coming close last week. We hope to go on a deep run and let the results take care of themselves over the two days," said Dukisa.

Menengai Oilers face a challenging test in Pool C against Strathmore Leos, Nondies, and Kisumu RFC.

Head coach Geoffrey Ominde wants his team to push past their recent form, stating, "We have been knocking on the door with two semifinal appearances. Hopefully, this weekend we can take the next step."

In Pool D, surprise contenders Daystar Falcons take on Mwamba, Embu RFC, and Impala.

Head coach Caleb Bosire believes a strong performance would cap off a successful campaign.

"We have ticked all our boxes this season. Qualifying for the Main Cup quarterfinals and reaching two semifinals demonstrates our growth and consistency," he said.
