Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to leave federal prison earlier than previously expected, with his projected release date now listed as 5 February 2028.
The latest date appears in records from the US Bureau of Prisons (BOP), which lists Combs as an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
The new date is more than two weeks earlier than his previous projected release date of 20 February 2028. His release timeline has been revised several times since he began serving his sentence.
Combs is now projected to leave prison on 5 February 2028.

Serving 50-month sentence
The 56-year-old music executive is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence, equivalent to four years and two months.
Combs was convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution following a closely watched federal trial in Manhattan.
However, the jury acquitted him of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
He was sentenced in October 2025 and later transferred to FCI Fort Dix, a low-security federal correctional facility in New Jersey. (FOX 11 Los Angeles)
His projected release date has changed several times. Earlier BOP records had placed his release later in 2028 before subsequent adjustments brought it forward.
Why has the date changed?
The exact reason for the latest adjustment has not been publicly explained.
Federal prison release dates can change because of sentence calculations, earned credits and other administrative factors. Reports have also noted that Combs’ projected date has been altered following developments during his incarceration.
The BOP generally does not discuss individual inmates’ confinement details or explain specific changes to their release plans.
The latest adjustment therefore does not mean that Combs’ sentence has been overturned or cancelled. 5 February 2028 remains a projected release date and could change again.
Appeal remains pending
Combs’ legal team has continued to challenge his conviction and sentence through the appeals process.
His lawyers have argued that the sentence should be reduced or overturned, while prosecutors have defended the conviction obtained at trial.
The former Bad Boy Records boss also continues to face numerous civil lawsuits. He has denied allegations of wrongdoing in those cases.
For now, Combs remains incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix, with federal records showing 5 February 2028 as his latest projected release date.
