The stage is set for the second edition of the Meru University Mt. Kenya Run is scheduled for Saturday at the Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST), Marimba Campus.
The 2026 event will feature seven race categories, allowing participants of different ages and abilities to take part.
The 14km race will headline the showdown and is expected to attract elite men and women runners seeking to test themselves against the challenging course, with registration set at Sh2,500.
The winner will pocket Sh200,000, while the second- and third-placed finishers will take home Sh150,000 and Sh100,000, respectively.
The 8km race will feature senior, masters for athletes aged 50 years and over, students and under-20 categories with registration also set at Sh2,500.
The top three finishers in the 8km race will receive Sh40,000, Sh30,000 and Shj20,000, respectively.
The event will also feature an 8km Corporate Run with registration for a team of five going for Sh100,000, an 8KM CEO Challenge priced at Sh20,000 and a 3km Fun Run Race, priced at Sh5,000, and a 3km Children’s Race also priced at Sh2,500.
Meru University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo said:

Last year, Kenyan international mountain runner Michael Selelo Saoli emerged victorious in the men’s 14km race after clocking 48:43 to finish ahead of Shadrack Korir and Josphat Tuwei, who finished second and third after timing 48:52:15 and 49:01:87, respectively.
In the women's elite race, Gladys Songol claimed the title in 56:56, ahead of Regina Wambui, who finished second in 57:46. Jedidah Chepkemoi completed the podium in 57:52.
