Gender CS Hanna Cheptumo has issued a stern warning to chiefs, village elders and other local administrators in Baringo County, cautioning them that they will face disciplinary action if cases of FGM are reported within their areas of administration. Speaking during a three-day women’s conference in Baringo, Cheptumo said local administrators have a responsibility to protect girls and women from the harmful practice and should not turn a blind eye when FGM is taking place in their communities.
