Kenyan content creator Pritty Vishy is trying another route into the entertainment industry, this time behind the decks.
The social media personality has enrolled at Red Berry DJ Academy after facing criticism over her early DJ performances, turning what initially appeared to be another celebrity career experiment into a more serious attempt to learn the craft.
The academy announced her admission on 25 August, saying Vishy had chosen training despite the criticism surrounding her debut.
“She didn’t let the noise become louder than her dream.”
The move comes after a turbulent start to her DJ journey.

From influencer to DJ

Vishy first announced her move into DJing in July, presenting it as a new chapter alongside her existing work as a content creator and influencer.

Her first mix quickly attracted mixed reactions online. Vishy responded by acknowledging that she was still learning and asked experienced DJs and her audience to give her time to develop.

“I’m still learning; I just wish you guys can hear me DJing live.”

She also promised to prove herself through live performances rather than allowing online criticism to define her ability.

Her first live appearance, however, became another difficult moment.

Criticism puts new career under pressure

Reports on the performance said Vishy became emotional after the gig did not go as planned. She attributed some of the problems to technical difficulties at the venue, while the performance itself attracted further scrutiny.

Radio personality DJ Xclusive later criticised aspects of her technique, pointing to issues including her use of headphones and her approach to performing.

He urged her to learn the fundamentals before expecting to establish herself professionally.

The pressure appeared to take its toll. Earlier in August, Vishy announced that she was stepping away from DJing, citing the backlash surrounding her performances.

But the exit did not last long.

A comeback and formal training

On 18 August, Vishy returned with a new DJ mix, signalling that she was not ready to abandon the career path.

Her latest decision to enrol at a DJ academy gives the comeback a different direction.

Rather than relying solely on her existing online following, she is now putting herself through formal training to develop the technical skills required behind the decks.

Vishy has already made her intentions clear.

“Ready to be the baddest DJ.”

Another reinvention

Vishy's DJ venture is the latest example of her expanding beyond social media influencing.

Her public profile grew through online content and her high-profile relationship with musician Stevo Simple Boy, but she has continued looking for ways to build an independent entertainment identity.
