Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to hold a thanksgiving tour in Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Narok County.
The tour is seen as an acknowledgement for the support received by the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) in the May 2026 parliamentary by-election.
Gachagua is expected to be joined by DCP leaders and supporters at the event.
The visit comes amid concerns over the rally's security.
In a letter to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja on August 20, the former Deputy President said he had received reports of threats against his planned visit and asked police to guarantee the safety of his entourage, supporters and residents.
He also maintained that he has a constitutional right to travel to any part of the country and participate in political activities.
Khalwale's wife to be buried today
Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, the wife of Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, will be laid to rest today at the family home in Malinya, Ikolomani Constituency, Kakamega County.
Gloria, 45, died on August 15, 2026, following a sudden heart attack, leaving the senator and their family mourning her death.
Her burial is expected to bring together family members, friends, political leaders and other Kenyans who have condoled with the Khalwale family following her death.
The senator has received messages of condolence from leaders across the political divide, who have expressed sympathy with him and his family during the period of mourning.
The burial ceremony at the Malinya family home will mark the final farewell to Gloria, as her family and friends gather to celebrate her life and mourn her passing.
Murkomen to assess preparedness for Mashujaa Day in three counties
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is expected to assess preparations for this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations as the government steps up efforts to host the national event across Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties.
The celebrations will culminate at Kipchoge Stadium in Eldoret on October 20, with the three counties jointly hosting the week-long activities for the first time.
Murkomen, who chairs the 2026 Mashujaa Day National Celebrations Steering Committee, has said preparations are on course, with the government fast-tracking infrastructure projects ahead of the event.
The CS’s assessment comes as county governments intensify their own preparations.
