Nyamira Girls' topped group ‘B’ with a 100 per cent record, while Ng’iya finished second in pool ‘A’.
Ng’iya Girls' beat Nyamira Girls' at the Siaya county and Nyanza region levels for the last two years. However, Nyamira Girls' beat Ng’iya in the semifinals at the national championships in Kisumu in April.
Nyamira prevailed 2-1 on penalties after a barren draw. Ng’iya Girls' coach Oduor Nyadida expects a tough duel at Forest Hill Secondary.
“It will be a tough game against our rivals. It will be fireworks because Nyamira is not an easy team. We know how they play, and our girls must remain focused up to the last minute," said Nyadida.
Nyamira Girls' coach Stephen Kigai tipped his charges to prevail as they seek to reclaim the title that they last won in 2023.
“We are already assured of a Kenyan team in the final. I believe we shall overcome Ng’iya and progress to the final. We are in top form because the girls are scoring and have not conceded so far,” said Kigai.
Kigai is relishing an all-Kenyan final against St Joseph’s Girls' Kitale.
“We wish St Joseph’s the best in the other semifinal. Nyamira Girls' are psyched up and ready to lift the title," he said.
Defending champions St Joseph’s Girls' Kitale face pool B runners-up, former champions Kakungulu Memorial from Uganda, in the other semifinal.
St Joseph’s coach John Lusaka said: “Kakungulu is a good and experienced team. It’s also a stubborn team, but I expect calmness from the girls.”
In the boys’ category, national champions St Anthony’s Kitale will renew hostilities with East Africa champions Kakungulu Memorial from Uganda. The second semi-final will pit Kenya’s Friends School Kamusinga against Ntare School from Uganda.
In their last group stage game on Tuesday, Kamusinga defeated Kakungulu Memorial 1-0, with Reagan Mesach scoring the vital goal.
St Anthony’s concluded their group-stage games with a comfortable 3-0 win after a dazzling display over Benjamin Mkapa Secondary of Tanzania.
