President William Ruto has opened the National Health Summit 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

The two-day summit, running from August 18 to 19, brings together government officials, healthcare workers, development partners and other stakeholders to assess progress in the country's health sector reforms. 

The summit is being held under the theme "Reform Delivered, Health as a Right" and will review the government's health reforms under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Key areas of focus include the transformation of digital health services, improving efficiency at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), expanding specialised medical services and increasing access to healthcare through the Social Health Authority (SHA).

The summit will also examine progress in Primary Healthcare, maternal and newborn health and the work of Community Health Promoters in bringing healthcare services closer to households.

The summit will culminate in a Presidential Town Hall, where Kenyans will have an opportunity to share their experiences, concerns and expectations regarding the country's healthcare system.
