A section of leaders have sent messages of condolence to Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale following the sudden death of his wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale.
Khalwale announced Gloria’s death on Saturday morning, saying she suddenly collapsed and died after suffering a heart attack.
“My dear wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, has this morning suddenly collapsed and died after a heart attack,” Khalwale said in a statement.
The announcement triggered messages of sympathy from political leaders, friends and associates, who mourned the sudden loss and stood with the senator and his family.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was among those who sent a message of condolence to Khalwale, offering prayers and comfort to the family during the difficult period.
“Omwami, pole sana for your loss. May God comfort you and your family in this difficult time. Khulialala Omwami. May her soul rest in peace,” Sifuna said.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa also conveyed his condolences to the senator, describing Gloria’s death as sudden.
“I extend my sincere condolences to Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale following the sudden passing of his wife, Mama Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale,” Barasa said.
The governor said his thoughts were with Khalwale, his family and friends during the difficult period, and prayed for Gloria’s soul to rest in eternal peace.
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka described Gloria’s death as a devastating loss, adding that her sudden passing had left the Khalwale family facing a difficult moment.
“My heartfelt condolences to our senior brother DR Boni Khalwale following the sudden passing of his beloved wife Mama Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale,” Wamboka said.
He described the death as a painful moment for the family and said the Linda Mwananchi team stood with Khalwale during the period of mourning.
“As Linda Mwananchi, we stand firmly with our senior brother and mentor Senator Boni Khalwale during this darkest hour,” Wamboka said.
Wamboka further prayed for strength and comfort for the Khalwale family as they come to terms with the loss.
The tributes came shortly after Khalwale broke the news of Gloria’s death, with leaders expressing solidarity with the senator as the family mourns their loved one.
Gloria was the mother of the Khalwale children, including Engine Kukaste Khalwale, Olivia Sabayi Khalwale, Flavia Shimuli Khalwale, Gift Atubukha Khalwale, Meliza Khamwenyi Khalwale, Velma Nasiebanda Khalwale, Sonia Inuni Khalwale and Maura Makatse Khalwale.
Her sudden death has left the family and those close to her mourning an unexpected loss.
Further details on the funeral programme and burial arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family as relatives and friends gather to mourn Gloria.
