Cape Media Limited Cape Media Limited has launched Vibe 47, a new digital platform bringing together entertainment, lifestyle, news, current affairs and original content for audiences increasingly consuming media through mobile and online platforms.
The platform, launched on Friday, is intended to complement Cape Media's existing TV47 and Radio 47 brands while providing a separate digital destination with its own programming and audience experience.
Cape Media Growth and Strategy Consultant Farida Karoney said the platform was designed in response to changing audience habits and the growing demand for accessible, on-demand content.
“Vibe 47 reflects how audiences are consuming media today. People want content that is immediate, relevant and easy to access wherever they are,” Karoney said.
She said the platform would also give Cape Media an opportunity to invest in Kenyan stories and talent while reaching audiences across different digital spaces.
Unlike traditional broadcasting, Vibe 47 will allow audiences to access content on demand and across different formats, including longer programmes, short-form productions and social media-oriented content.
The platform will focus on Kenyan voices, personalities, culture and everyday experiences, with programming covering entertainment, lifestyle, current affairs and original digital formats.
Cape Media said Vibe 47 will also create opportunities for creators, presenters, actors, musicians and other emerging talent to reach audiences through its growing digital ecosystem.
Karoney said the platform was intended to strengthen the connection between Cape Media's television, radio and digital offerings.
“Our audiences do not live on one platform anymore. They move between television, radio, social media and their phones throughout the day,” she said.
The company said Vibe 47 would therefore feature content specifically developed for online audiences rather than simply replicating traditional broadcast programming on digital platforms.
Cape Media said Kenyan storytelling would remain central to the platform, with content expected to reflect the country's diversity, humour, ambitions, challenges and changing culture.
The company said Vibe 47 would expand its content offering as it develops new programmes, partnerships and other digital experiences.
The launch forms part of Cape Media's broader digital expansion strategy as the company seeks to build a media ecosystem spanning television, radio and digital platforms.
