Kenyan actor Melvin Alusa has opened up about the unexpected circumstances that led him into the film industry, revealing that his acting journey began after he attended an audition while pursuing a girl.

The accomplished actor recently reflected on the unusual beginning of his career, explaining that acting was not initially part of a carefully planned professional path.

Instead, a romantic interest unexpectedly put him in a position where he discovered his talent and eventually developed a passion for the film industry.

According to Alusa, he attended the audition because he was interested in a particular girl.

What started as an attempt to get closer to his crush would ultimately become a life-changing moment.

He decided to participate in the audition and, rather than simply leaving after achieving his initial objective, found himself taking the opportunity seriously.

The experience opened the door to acting and introduced him to a career that would eventually see him become one of Kenya's recognised actors.

Alusa's story is a reminder that career paths do not always follow a predictable route.

For someone who initially had no intention of becoming an actor, a simple decision made while pursuing a romantic interest ended up changing the direction of his life.

His journey into acting began in his early twenties. Earlier accounts of his career indicate that he was working as a travel consultant when he heard about an audition.

He gave it his best shot and successfully landed opportunities that encouraged him to take acting more seriously.

He later became involved in theatre and set-book performances before transitioning to television and film.

Over the years, Alusa has built an impressive résumé, appearing in productions including Makutano Junction, The First Grader, Lusala, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, Country Queen and Mission to Rescue.

His career has also extended beyond acting. Alusa has worked as a commercial model, MC and acting coach, while his participation in Big Brother Africa introduced him to an even wider audience.

Interestingly, the girl who initially motivated him to attend the audition also became connected to another major chapter in his personal life.

In a 2023 profile, Nation reported that Alusa said joining acting ultimately brought him two life-changing things: a wife and an illustrious career.
