Afrobeats superstar Davido has thrown down a serious challenge to his fellow hitmakers, declaring that he is ready to enter a “Versus” battle against anyone confident enough to face his catalogue.
During a recent interview with streamer Darel, the award-winning Nigerian singer made it clear that he has no doubts about the strength of his music library.
Davido even offered to put up $1 million (Ksh 129.2 million) for the battle, challenging any artist who believes they can match his collection of hits.
“I will put down a million dollars. I’m willing to do a Versus with anybody,” Davido said.
His bold statement comes amid renewed conversations among music fans about which Nigerian artist has the strongest catalogue for a hit-for-hit showdown.
Names such as Wizkid, Olamide, Burna Boy, 2Baba, D’banj, P-Square and 9ice have all featured prominently in discussions about potential contenders, alongside Davido.
For Davido, however, his confidence is backed by more than a decade of chart-topping records. Since gaining widespread attention with his 2011 hit “Back When,” featuring Naeto C, he has built a catalogue filled with songs that have shaped Nigeria’s contemporary Afrobeats movement.
Over the years, the singer has released several major albums and singles while collaborating with artists from across Africa and the global music scene. His success has also played a role in taking Afrobeats to audiences far beyond Nigeria.
Davido is currently riding on the momentum of his sixth studio album, ORIADE, a 13-track project he has described as a return to his Yoruba roots.
The album brings together an impressive mix of Nigerian and international talent, including Leon Thomas, Black Sherif, Aya Nakamura, Mayorkun, Fola, Llona, NO11, JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay.
ORIADE also represents a change in the singer’s album tradition. Unlike his previous five projects, which each featured 17 tracks, the new album contains 13 songs, signalling what could be a new chapter in Davido’s career.

With the album now out, the singer has also begun revealing dates for a supporting world tour.
The tour follows his successful 5IVE era, which saw him take his music across major cities, including five Nigerian stops.
Whether any artist will accept Davido’s $1 million challenge remains to be seen.
But if a hit-for-hit battle eventually happens, fans could be in for one of the biggest Afrobeats showdowns yet.
