Malala said he would stand with Sifuna, urging Luhya youth to rally behind the Nairobi Senatr.
He also thanked Luhya youth for backing Sifuna, saying the support should extend across the Western region.
"I, Cleophas Wahungu Malala, I swear that I shall stand with Nairobi Edwin Sifuna for presidency. The whole of Western Region will stand with Sifuna,” he said.
Malala called for unity among young Luhya leaders and urged them to support Sifuna’s leadership.
“We should support the leadership of Luyha young leaders,” he said.
On Saturday, Malala said that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is ready to support Senator Sifuna for the presidency if he emerges as the opposition's preferred candidate.
Speaking during a Linda Mwananchi rally in Kakamega on Saturday, August 8, Malala told supporters that he had been sent with a message as political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election continue to gather momentum.
"Niko na taarifa, leo ni mwecheche, Mheshimiwa Rigathi Gachagua amenituma amesema ako tayari kuunga mkono Edwin Sifuna awe Rais ya Jamhuri ya Kenya," Malala said.
Malala went on to publicly endorse Sifuna, saying he believed the ODM secretary-general had the qualities to lead the country.
"I came here to fulfil the vision of Masinde Muliro and Martin Shikuku. We have been our own enemies, but I am glad I am going to be part of the generation that stops this, and that is why I am declaring today that this time we have found a leader, and my leader is Edwin Watunya Sifuna. This child of ours is capable of president of Kenya," Malala said.
His latest remarks are consistent with his previous public endorsements of Sifuna while maintaining his allegiance to Gachagua and the DCP.
Malala has on several occasions argued that Sifuna should play a leading role in a united opposition alliance, framing such cooperation as necessary to strengthen the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
Gachagua has also previously praised Sifuna's political rallies and indicated that he would support him if he emerged as the opposition's consensus presidential candidate, saying unity within the opposition would take precedence over individual ambitions.
"I'm so delighted about the Sifuna Western meeting; I've called him to tell him well done...I will support Edwin Sifuna if he is the opposition's presidential candidate," Gachagua said.
Sifuna has similarly expressed willingness to work with Gachagua despite their political differences, including events surrounding Gachagua's impeachment.
