A helicopter carrying Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Attorney General Dorcas Oduor was forced to make an emergency landing in Kericho County on Sunday afternoon due to bad weather.
The leaders were flying from Kabondo Kasipul Constituency in Homa Bay County to Nairobi when the incident occurred.
The helicopter landed at Chepngetuny, near Belgut Technical Training Institute.
According to the governor's office, the aircraft safely touched down on an open field and remained grounded for some time.
The helicopter resumed its journey once the weather cleared, with everyone on board safe.
Earlier, the governor had accompanied the leaders to Kojwanch Ward in Kabondo Kasipul, where Nyando MP Jared Okelo had visited his in-laws to pay dowry.
Wanga shared images of the visit on her Facebook page.
Earlier in the day, she attended a church service at Faith Community Fellowship Sanctuary in Kochia, where she participated in a fundraiser.
On the same day, the governor worshipped at Holy Trinity Catholic Cathedral in Homa Bay Town.
An official from the Governor’s office said Wanga was travelling to Naivasha for the Broad-Based Government leaders’ joint retreat when the helicopter encountered bad weather.
She arrived safely at the meeting.
