Former national football champions Kakamega School, debutants St Mary's Yala and Archbishop Njenga booked places in the KCB Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two Games semi-finals on Monday.The three sides secured qualification after registering two wins from two matches at the ongoing championships at MPesa Foundation Academy in Thika, Kiambu county.Kakamega School hammered Tumaini High 4-0, with Mclin Adika, Daniel Ombati, Julius Ochieng and Bradley Muliamba all finding the net.The Green Commandos are chasing their first national title since lifting the trophy eight years ago.St Mary's Yala, popularly known as the Black Saints, also maintained their perfect start with a commanding 5-1 victory over Tononoka High School. They will wrap up their Group stage campaign on Tuesday against Highway in a match expected to determine the group's final standings.Rift Valley champions Menengai dealt former champions Highway a major blow with a 1-0 victory to dent their semi-final hopes. Stand-in captain Griffin Shollei scored the decisive goal.North Eastern's Takaba Mixed Senior School also made history by becoming the first team from the region to win a match at the national championships after thrashing Central champions St Phillips' Baricho High School 6-1.Yahyah Majid opened the scoring before Abdi Majid struck twice. Ismail Edin added the fourth, Ali Noor made it five in the 83rd minute and captain Abdi Karim Alow completed the rout. Alex Jomba grabbed Baricho's consolation in the 90th minute.Takaba Senior Principal Abdikhalif Hassan Ibrahim hailed the players, coaches and supporters, describing the victory as the biggest sporting achievement in the school's history."We have never delivered such results before. This is a milestone not only for our school but for the entire North Eastern region. I appreciate our players, coaches and supporters for believing in the team," he said.In the girls' competition, Archbishop Njenga underlined their title credentials with an emphatic 8-0 victory over Thika Girls to seal a semi-final place.Grace Muthoni scored a hat-trick, while Triza Atwani and Viola Chepkir each bagged a brace. National U20 international Hilda Natecho completed the scoring.Former champions Nyakach Girls also advanced after beating Kaya Tiwi 3-0.Coach Chrispine Odindo said: "We are on course to reclaim our title. The girls have demonstrated their determination by winning the opening two games."Elsewhere, Raila Education Center thrashed Misuuni 6-0 to keep their semi-final hopes alive, while St Joseph's Girls Kitale crushed Mwatate 14-0.
