The leaders are accusing Uhuru of orchestrating a political campaign to undermine the Head of State despite the support he received from Ruto throughout his presidency.
Speaking during a church service at AIC Watuka in Mbooni Constituency on Sunday, Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse said it was unfair for the former President to rally political forces against President Ruto, whom he described as a loyal ally who stood by Uhuru throughout his 10 years in office.
Mutuse said Ruto remained steadfast in supporting Uhuru during his presidency and played a pivotal role in his election in 2013 and re-election in 2017.
The MP argued that the former President should not be displeased by the current administration's achievements, saying President Ruto was implementing key development programmes that Uhuru's administration had failed to deliver.
"President Ruto stood with Uhuru when many people did not trust him. He worked tirelessly to ensure he became President and secured a second term. It is therefore unfortunate for the former President to turn against the very leader who stood with him throughout his presidency," Mutuse said.
The Kibwezi West legislator also urged the former Head of State to retire gracefully and refrain from interfering in the country's politics.
"It would be better for former President Uhuru Kenyatta to retire honourably and stop meddling in the political affairs of this country. Kenyans elected President William Ruto, and he should be given the opportunity to implement his development agenda without unnecessary political distractions," he said.
Mutuse maintained that the Kenya Kwanza administration remained focused on delivering development projects across the country and urged leaders to prioritise service delivery over early political campaigns.
