Defending SportPesa National Sevens Circuit champions KCB Rugby continued their impressive title defence with an unbeaten opening day at the Dala Sevens in Kisumu, comfortably booking their place in Sunday's Cup quarter-finals.
The bankers arrived in Kisumu on the back of their Prinsloo Sevens triumph in Nakuru last weekend, where they edged rivals Kabras Sugar 19-12 in a thrilling final to claim the opening leg of the 2026 circuit.

They have carried that momentum into the second leg, extending their unbeaten run and strengthening their early bid for successive tournament titles.
KCB began their Pool A campaign with a commanding 36-5 victory over Impala before overpowering Zetech Oaks 43-12. They rounded off the day with a hard-fought 19-19 draw against MMUST, a result that saw them top the pool with seven points after scoring 98 points and conceding just 36.
The bankers once again demonstrated the attacking flair and defensive organisation that propelled them to the Prinsloo Sevens title, producing another composed display to secure their place in the Cup quarter-finals.
MMUST also enjoyed a memorable opening day. The students opened with a 17-12 victory over Zetech Oaks before defeating Impala 19-5.
Their spirited draw against KCB secured second place in the pool standings and a deserved place in the knockout rounds.
Zetech Oaks recovered from successive defeats to edge Impala 19-14 in their final match of the day and register their first win of the tournament. Impala, meanwhile, finished the pool stage without a victory.
Elsewhere, Pool B standings were carried over from last weekend's Prinsloo Sevens, where Kabras Sugar also maintained an unbeaten record.
The Sugarmen topped the standings with maximum points after victories over Kenya Harlequin, Mwamba and Embu. Kenya Harlequin finished second with six points, while Mwamba claimed third courtesy of their win over Embu.
Attention now shifts to Sunday's knockout rounds, where the remaining pool fixtures will determine the full Cup quarter-final line-up before teams battle for the Dala Sevens title and valuable points in the race for the overall SportPesa National Sevens Circuit crown.
