Kenya Power has announced that electricity supply has been fully restored to all customers affected by the widespread outage that hit several parts of the country on Wednesday night.
In a customer alert issued at 6.22 am on Thursday, the utility said power was fully restored by 2.00 am.
"We are pleased to report that power supply was fully restored to all affected customers by 2:00 am today," Kenya Power said.
The company also thanked customers for their patience as its technical teams worked to restore electricity.
"We truly appreciate your patience and support as our teams worked to restore service," the statement added.
The latest update comes hours after Kenya Power confirmed a widespread blackout that affected customers in Nairobi, the Coast region, Mt Kenya and parts of the Central Rift.
In an earlier statement issued at 9.05 pm on Wednesday, the company said electricity supply had remained stable in parts of the North Rift and Western regions despite the disruption.
"We wish to inform our esteemed customers that we are experiencing a widespread power outage affecting customers in Nairobi, Coast, Mt. Kenya and parts of Central Rift. However, parts of North Rift and Western regions are on supply," Kenya Power said at the time.
The utility said its technical teams had been deployed to establish the cause of the outage and restore electricity to the affected areas as quickly as possible.
During the outage, Kenya Power apologised for the disruption and appealed to customers for patience as restoration efforts continued.
The company has not disclosed the cause of the blackout in its latest update but confirmed that electricity supply has now been restored across all the affected regions.
The outage had sparked concern after users on social media reported blackouts in multiple parts of the country before the utility issued its first statement confirming the disruption.
