Former Chief Justice David Maraga has criticized the government over what he described as inadequate preparedness for the El Niño rains expected between 2026 and 2027. Maraga urged the government to urgently implement practical mitigation measures to prevent loss of lives, destruction of property, and other adverse effects associated with the anticipated heavy rainfall.
