Family appeals for help to trace missing Solomon Ndichu “Solo” / HANDOUTThe family of 23-year-old Solomon Ndichu, popularly known as “Solo”, has appealed to the public for assistance in tracing him after he went missing under unclear circumstances in Nairobi.
According to the family, Ndichu, a resident of Acacia Estate in Ongata Rongai-Olekasasi, was last seen on March 21 in Muthurwa Market area.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a long black raincoat, grey and black jeans, a T-shirt and sports shoes.
His family described him as approximately 5.6 feet tall with a chocolate complexion and fluent in both English and Kiswahili.
Speaking during the appeal, Solomon’s mother, Gladis Wachuka, said her son disappeared shortly after leaving to repair his mobile phone.
Wachuka said her son appeared calm and showed no signs of distress before his disappearance.
“I was with him and his uncle, and he went to repair his phone. Solomon is 23 years old, and he has never gone missing before; this is the first time. At that time, he looked okay and was not stressed,” she said.
She said the matter was reported to the police, and an Occurrence Book (OB) number was issued, adding that officers had circulated his photograph to police stations as investigations continue.
“I was sent to the DCI, and I was given a location where the phone was last switched off. I want to know the location of the gadget because he might still have his phone with him,” she said.
The distraught mother said family members have searched hospitals, funeral homes and prisons in efforts to trace him, but their search has so far been unsuccessful.
Wachuka appealed directly to her son, urging him to return home or contact the family if he is safe.
“My family and siblings have been of great help. We have moved around hospitals, funeral homes and also prisons but we haven’t found him yet. We just want to know that he is alive wherever he is. Even if it is work, I have no problem as long as he is alive somewhere,” she said.
She also appealed to anyone who may have information about Solomon’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact the family.
“He is the only boy I have and it is my prayer that we find him,” she said.
